Priorities
While this paraphrase from one of my all-time favorite movies is a bit overstated, there certainly are many taxes that can and should be totally eliminated. As a Libertarian I am in total agreement with the party's ultimate goal to completely overhaul the existing system of taxation including the abolishment of the Internal Revenue Service, the abolishment of the existing overly-complex and convoluted income tax laws and, to make this all fiscally possible, the abolishment of virtually all programs not required by the Texas Constitution and the United States Constitution. After all, a taxpayer is nothing more than a poor schmuck who doesn't have to take a civil service examination to work for the government. I say
thanks, but no thanks... My commitment to this issue is unwavering. Accordingly, on February 2nd I signed THE TAXPAYER PROTECTION PLEDGE, considered to be the single-most important step a political candidate can make to demonstrate his or her commitment to the principles of fiscal responsibility. My solemn pledge to "oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes" is now on file with the Americans for Tax Reform headquarters in Washington, D.C. It should be noted that there are no exceptions to the Pledge. None. For more information regarding The Taxpayer Protection Pledge and Americans for Tax Reform, please go to www.atr.org.
